Career:
Lucia Megyesi-Schwartz is a Hungarian mezzo-soprano. She has started her musical studies in her hometown in Pécs. She graduated from singing at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Music in 1992. Then as the student of Zsolt Bende she graduated at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest at the Department of Vocal & Opera Studies and the Department of Teacher Education in 1995. Then she obtained a post-gradual degree as a student of Júlia Hamari at the Stuttgart Academy of Music in 1996.
She is a singer of the Hungarian State Opera House since 1994 and she was the soloist singer of the Graz Opera from 2006 to 2008. Main roles: Dido, Cherubino, Dorabella, Rosina, Cinderella, Carmen, Sextus, Orlovsky, Lola. Furthermore she is regularly holding master classes.
Lucia Megyesi-Schwartz is an ambassador of the Hungarian music and the Kodály method. Her repertoire consists of opera arias, oratorio arias, songs, song cycles, contemporary premieres. Her first solo album was published in 2001.
She is a sought-after oratorio and song singer both in Hungary and in other countries. She has been in numerous tours during her career and singing in opera houses and famous concert halls of many European countries. She gave concerts in Kazakhstan and overseas, in Japan and South-America. She has been working together with Ádám Fischer, Zoltán Kocsis, Helmuth Rilling, Stephen Lord, Gábor Hollerung, Zoltán Peskó, György Vashegyi, Tamás Vasváry, Martin Haselböck conductors. At her solo concerts she worked with Gergely Bogányi, Jenő Jandó, Izabella Simon, Dóra Bizják, Károly Mocsári, Dénes Várjon, Walter Moore Mariann Marczi and Marialena Fernandes. She is a regular participant of numerous chamber programs. Her discography is based on baroque and contemporary pieces.
